When you walk through the door of a new consciousness, a new awareness it is magic. However, this is a natural phenomena. We just may not know it. I meditate everyday a 40 minute session and them 5 minute meditation tune ups through out the day. I am open to all possibilities. This is a blessing because I never know where I will receive a new message on starting a new project, a new way of looking at a situation in a different way. Maybe the message will come from a phone conversation when I am talking to my brother (which is what happened the other day). Maybe Oski (my 11 year old Bombay mix) will send me a thought that helps me to understand what a certain behavior means; Maybe I will get a vision on a new art project or a new video/song project. Maybe it will be a new calling. Mediation helps me to clear out mental chatter so I will be ready to accept a new opportunity for doing my spiritual work as a Joy Guide. Be patient I am going with something here.

Recently, while I was on my Facebook page, a friend who is a fellow artist and renaissance woman, Angelique Stacy, sent me a photo of a bat holding a teddy bear. So cute. I look in the eyes and I see a consciousness. Very intriguing. I didn’t know a lot about bats, but in the Medicine Cards by Jaime Sands, Bat is the medicine of death/rebirth. I ”liked” the photo, then I started receiving more photos of bats. I started seeing how sweet they can be, what a playful nature they have. Then I started finding out more and found out that they destroy the bugs that can destroy crops. other short factoids: Bats are not blind, they do not suck your blood, and their wings are actually their hands! Amazing, right?

In fact, bats are so misunderstood. I realized I was receiving a calling to help raise awareness about the way we may feel about them. I happened to join the Bat World Sanctuary and got a really sweet note from the founder, Amanda Lollar. I was so touched she went out of my way to send me a personal thank you that I shared with her an idea of recording a single and distributing on ITunes, Amazon, CD Baby and 75% of sales going back to the organization. Amanda emailed me back and agreed that it was a wonderful idea. So now I am starting on this recording project.

Besides getting the licensing rights to cover the song “Ordinary Miracle” I am also going to create a video to go with it. All these things fell in to place within a short amount of time. This is how it works, if you ask God to “use me”. Events occur very fast. So stay tuned. This is a wonderful work in progress and will be interesting to see how it evolves.

I’M Batty for Bats!

Yes, I am declaring I love these mammals. They are smart, sweet, affectionate and very expressive. They have many different vocalizations. And guess what many of the things that bats do have helped develop medications to our species. NO, they will not suck your blood dry. Amanda Lollar founder of the Bat World Sanctuary says “That is only in the movies”. I first learned about bats when my friend and fellow artist, Angelique Stacy shared a post about bats on Facebook. There was a photo of a bat named Pants cuddling with a Teddy Bear. Then I saw another photo of a bat named Lizzie and she had an expression that said she loves and knows how to have fun. That was it. I started thinking of words to write a song inspired by Lizzie titled “If Lizzie could talk what would she say”. The melody came really fast and I knew that the Universe was saying it’s time to get back to work. I don’t consider this a job, I consider this a joy! I made a donation to Bat Worlds Sanctuary and received a very nice email from Amanda. So I emailed Amanda back and told her my idea about writing a song and donating 75% of the sales back to the Bat World Sanctuary. Amanda emailed me back and said “Hi Evie, This sounds wonderful! Your music is really beautiful:)….Thank you so much!” So in the next few months, I will be writing and keeping you all posted of the evolution of this project. Celebrity Sighting (who is Also a Good Friend of Mine and Yours Too)

I love the magazines who have a section of celebrity sightings. Oh boy you met Brad Pitt, is he as cute as Angelique thinks he is? You saw Chris Isaak at Ocean Beach in San Francisco? What you were standing next to Bruce Springsteen? It is really cool to meet these extraordinary people. I met John Dye the actor who played Andrew the Angel of Death in Touched by an Angel. He had a sparkly personality and fun to talk to. I met Tony La Russa when I was working at Pet Food Express in Pleasant Hill. He is a very stoic person who liked to keep to himself. But if you asked him about his animal family he would immediately light up. But one of the well-known personalities I have gotten introduced to 2 years ago is Archangel Michael and the other Archangels. I was introduced  by a dear friend, Tana Newberry. Tana  is a very talented film maker, but also known as the “Angel Girl” at anyone who goes to Angel Heart 4 You in Benicia. She was giving a workshop on how to get connected with Archangel Michael. She took us through some exercises to increase our awareness of him. In the first meditation, it was a guided meditation to meet him. It was interesting how everyone in the group saw him differently. Some of us saw him as a very handsome, radiant male with long blonde flowing hair with his Sword. But how he appeared to me was an angel in a long white robe wearing a fake nose and glasses with a Groucho Marx mustache holding a cigar. I asked him why he is appearing to me like this and he said “you are the one who wanted me to look like this. I will appear to each individual in a way that is comfortable.” Yes, he was in the perfect persona for me. I learn better if there is a humorous aspect. He told me that when ever I needed help from him just ask. Now that I am aware of him. When I am in a space where I feel uncomfortable with certain situations or people, I call him in and I instantly feel calm and safe. I was told by Tana that he is also an angel to call if you are having trouble with your computer or anything electronic. I always feel him around me. As I am writing this. I feel his hands on my shoulder. and a warmth down my back. He is gently supporting me. He is like a big brother to me.  So back to the photo. There was a lady in Angel Heart taking Aura Photos. Before the photo was taken I asked my Angel crew to take a photo with me.  This is the photo that was taken

When I took this photo today so I could show this to you, you can see Michael holding his sword. You may be able to see there is  spark coming out of my right eye and a presence on my heart chakra. but  I also saw some things that didn’t show up originally. if you look at the upper right hand side you can see an outline of an angel wing or a bat wing. I just got introduced to the Bat kingdom from a photo on Facebook. It was a photo of a bat holding on to a teddy bear. It was So cute. I got such a sense of love and innocence from looking at her photo.  Bats are very misunderstood and I am now being called to share the lives of bats. It is all because of the photo of Lizzie who I believe is an interspecies ambassador. My next project will be on bats. So if you want to be friends with Archangel, just call on him, he’ll be there.

Life is to be enjoyed

I have not written since a week before Mother’s Day. There is so much activity going on, that I am having so much fun, that I haven’t stopped time to write. But here I am now. I wanted to let you know what is going on. First of all, for Mother’s Day, David gave me an IPad! I had been wanting one for a while. I have been using my Ipod touch to record songs, but it is over 3 years old and couldn’t get the great software out there and the screen is a little too small for me to use the controls on the interface. So now the screen is so big and I have two great programs on my IPad-Studio MiniXL an 8 track recording studio and a program to write the chords and words for writing my songs. It has a scrolling device so I don’t have to carry my heavy songbook with me when I perform. I am also using my IPad for editing videos with the IMovie AP. it is so easy to use. The IPad is truly an amazing lifestyle tool.

I also got an IPhone and am now replacing my Sony Handicam. The quality is so much better. There are also accessories so you can attach extra mics and a tripod. I am streamlining my equipment so I only have to take my IPhone and a tripod-Amazing.

The trip to Mendocino was very fruitful. I had a wonderful time singing at the Mendocino Center. There was a lady who is a fellow animal activist and said that when we come up we can use her guest apartment. And I will be going up to Mendocino on a semi-regular basis. I am producing a new show up there called “The Paw Stops Here in Mendocino”. I shot my first show in May. I interviewed Kevin Williams who is a docent at Point Cabrillo Lighthouse along with his dog Dillon. Dillon is a very cute Boucion mix and has a lot of charisma. He even has a blog talking about life at Point Cabrillo and to get the word out about the proposed closure of the list of parks in California, for which Point Cabrillo is on the list. Kevin talked about what we can do so that doesn’t happen.  We can change this. It would be a shame to not have access to these beautiful places. Show your voice and support.

I also interviewed Christine Olson Day who is the manager and owner of Gallery Bookshop in Mendocino. For 18 years, they had a store cat named Colette. She talks about the way Colette touched so many lives. It is so touching. Last but certainly not least. I interviewed the manager of the Surf Motel. This motel located on the main street of Ft. Bragg has been around for over 60 years. It is pet friendly. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Tune in when the show airs. I am also going to put it on my YouTube channel. I will send the link when I finished editing it.

I am also getting ready to do another concert for Any Dog Rescue. I love doing my animal activist work through song. It is such a gift for me to give back in this way. I feel I am living the life I have always created in my mind. I am using my gifts as a singer, painter, writer, peaceful animal activist. I wake up with joy and excitement for the new day. who knows what wonderful experiences will come to me today.

It can happen to you too. Breathe in and out. Focus on your joy; focus on things that make you happy. Focus on things that fill you with Gratitude and Grace. It is these very things that will come into your life the more you think about them. It raises your vibration, lowers your stress. When life throws you a curve. Recognize that your experience what you think about and your attitude about it. Yes, life is to be embraced, experienced in the present and enjoyed!

Moms are pet parents too!

This little boy-cat and I have a special connection.

We pet parents know that our babies love us, how they shower us with affection with gentle nuzzling, leg rubbings, purring or patting us on the cheek. it is this love that can’t fully be described, you have to experience it. It is because of our love for them that they feel safe showing their love to us. If I had human kids, I wouldn’t love them more. So when I read the ASPCA email with the title “Mothers are pet parents too”, My thought was It’s about time!

I know many, many families that are made up of human and non-humans. I can see the love they shower on all their kids, whatever form they are in. Is that to say we don’t recognize our cats, dogs or rabbits as the beings they are? No, but we give them the same love, respect and affection we would for our other human family members.  I am so glad that the consciousness is growing, Pet-Moms are being recognized. I am asking my boy-cat, Oski to respect my boundaries more and respond quicker for a Mother’s day gift. I can feel he is pondering over that one. I believe he will agree. He does his best to please us. he is a loving cat.

We have 5 wonderful 4-legged kids, but Oski (shown at the left) and I have a special bond. He just turned 10 and as he has matured, he listens and responds to my requests. He will now sit and look at me when he wants a snack. He uses sign language to let me know when he wants to be on my lap. He also gives hi-fives and shakes hands. He will use his feline cadence to carry on a conversation and tell me about his day. Because I know that animals do listen and a cat learns a vocabulary of 50 words, I know he is getting the jest of my conversation. He still likes to be carried and cradled like a baby and he still loves the baby talk. When he wants to show affection he will pat me on the cheek with his paw.I remember one day I was crying at a sad movie. He was in my lap. He turned to me, looked at me intently and then put his paw on my cheek. This is a demonstration of love. It isn’t an instinctual response to some stimulus.

For all you pet parents out there, why don’t you share some of the ways your 4-legged kids show you love and this year, for your friends who have four-legged, furry, feathered or gilled, send them a Mother’s day card. We will appreciate it!

The Realization of life

I can create possibilities into Realities.

I took this title from a song I wrote. The name of the song is “The Realization-this song will be be going on my next CD. This is the 3rd step of what we “New Thinkers” call Affirmative Prayer. Actually I believe it is technically called “Recognition”. This is the step you are declaring that what you want in your mind is already here. When you name it and claim it-it is yours. I was telling a friend the other day that I feel as If I walked through the door of good fortune and many, many things are coming into my life. I have a wonderful job making a good income and working in a wonderful location-my home. In this job I utilize all my talents in fulfilling ways. I work for people who I respect who respect me. This is a dream job. I am also pursuing my interests as a singer, painter, writer, animal activist, photographer and videographer and getting paid. I have a loving marriage with a man who is fun to be with-has a good outlook in the world; he loves and respects animals as much as I do. He still knows how to make me laugh and can make me feel shy as if we were first dating (although we have been together almost 13 years. We have a close-knit multi-species family. Besides humans, cats and rabbits living in our house we have many plant babies. As I have gotten more tuned in, my plant babies will call me when it is time to water them.

I am not writing this with an intention to brag but to declare that when we realize that all good things deserve to come to us, that is what we receive. In Science of Mind, Reality means, your personal truth. So if I believe I can make money doing things that I love-I do. If I believe I deserve to be loved by a loving, sweet, sexy man with a generous heart, then he shows up (he did 34 years in high school and then reappeared in December 1999-I married him in 2001). If I can believe I can meet interesting people for my TV show, I do. If I believe that when ever I have a challenge I will be led to a solution-it comes in at the perfect time.  This Reality is not only for the “chosen few” it is for anyone who is willing to go out of their comfort zone and open up to the possibility that you truly can create a life you enjoy. This consciousness came in for me in little bits and pieces at first, then as I got comfortable recieving, more and more things came in a consistent flow. Yes I have so much to be grateful for, I Realize this, accept this and claim it. And so it is!

Life is what happens when you are making other “Concert” plans

I borrowed this phrase from my hero and spiritual muse, John Lennon. He was a Visionary peace activist. When He and Yoko did the bed-in for peace, my take on it was that they were saying when you focus on peace and advocate on a non-violent level, those are the results you get. It is how the Law of Attraction works. When you focus on what you want to happen, your thoughts turn in to vibrations that the Universe matches and those are the results you get.

I know I have digressed. I am really here to talk about my upcoming concert to promote my new CD, “Let Their Voice Be Heard”. I have the concert line up. A reporter, Rich Freedman, is going to do an article in our local paper. I have sent out all the Evites, I designed the posters. There have been some changes with our guest singers, but this is life, it changes all the time. someone once  said, “Change is great, routine is lethal”. So when circumstances came up and two of the original singers had to bow out gracefully. We made some changes.

Our new line up of singers are (besides myself) are Lee Wingfield, Alex Richardson and Ed Rosenback. They all share the passion of bringing better understanding between all beings on the planet.  I feel so blessed and grateful for sharing the stage with these talented, people. When we work together, it is all play. There is an infectious enthusiasm that creates wonderful nuances to the arrangements I created and turned them into something even more magical and poignant.

I am even more confident that what is being created is part of the shift that is occuring to  all beings on the planet.  Animals are being more open to many new behaviors that we didn’t see before. They are now feeling safe to let their true personalities come out. They know that there are humans who really want to listen to what they have to say. This concert project is a small part in the cosmic grid we are all on. I have this inner feeling that all who attend the concert will be filled with the spirit of love, compassion and embody the feelings that animals want to share with us. They will feel it as they listen to the story these songs. They will experience the spirit of the animals who will be here to fill the void with these new insights. And everyone who attends will be sending these out to other beings on the planet. This is the path of the peaceful warrior, our shield is our words and our swords or arrows are our words. If you are not able to attend this event, please hold a space of love and peace at 1:30 to 3:00PM, PST to move the message of our concert.  You are needed to keep the new movement going. Remember we are all connected to each other.

You can also go to my “Visions Alchemy Visionary Events. I mentioned this in an earlier post, but this is a dream of mine for 10+ years. It is finally manifesting. Part of the concert will have a presentation given by Rita from Loma Vista Farm to educate the community with all the wonderful things Loma Vista Farm has to offer. And because I am so grateful for my brother, Gabe and fellow musicians/singers, Ed Rosenback, Lee Wingfield and his son, Jim Wingfield. I wanted to give you some information on the caliber of talent that is sharing the stage with me:

Ed Rosenback-I have known Ed since 1997 when I started going to the church. He is truly an inspirational  and dynamic singer.  Not only is he a gifted singer, he is an equally talented songwriter and wordsmith. I’m excited to have him as part of the lineup.
 A professional musician since 1963, Ed has performed in a variety of styles and venues with groups in Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Louisiana, with featured performances in Nashville and Las Vegas. He has recorded prolifically, is a Life Member of the Musicians Union, and holds a B.A. degree in Music History, Theory & Composition from San Fransicco State University, an Honorary Doctorate in Metaphysics from the Universal Life Monastery in Seattle, Washington, and was ordained as a Minister of Divine Science by the Dean of the United Divine Science Theological Seminary in 2011. Ed is a veteran performer and singer-songwriter, and is pleased to lend his talents to this most worthy cause.
 
Lee Wingfield-I met Lee when I came to the church and for 3 years we worked together (along with his son Jim ) as the music ministry. Because Lee and my vocal ranges were exactly an octave a part, we created some rich harmonies in our Sunday service arrangements. When I took a sabbatical from the church, he continued to flourish as the music director. 
Lee is the current Music Director for the SOM Church in Vallejo and has been involved in the music program here for about 16 years. He is the author of approximately 35 new thought songs. Also as a satirical literary writer, Lee won the Vallejo Arts Councils writer of the year award in 1998

Jim Wngfield-Jim ia also a talented singer and prolifiic songwriter. He is the kind of musician that can improvise and add musical color to any style of music you  can think of,  when  you come to the concert you will experience this first hand. He along with Ed and Lee are part of the “Free Spirits” music group that plays every Sunday at the Church. There will more to information to follow. He is such a busy musician. I will sit down with him so he can fill me in with his upcoming and current music projects.

Gabriel De Los Santos- Gabriel is my younger brother, but there are times I forget. His very rich and soulful voice will engulf you in his songwriting creations and in the arrangement of Amazing Grace he will sing with me.

Ain’t Love Grand?

Yes, “ain’t” is a word in the dictionary. Today is Valentine’s Day. A day to celebrate love, proclaim love from the deepest parts of your soul to your special someone (or someone’s if you are are in a plural Marriage like the show that was on TLC, “First Wives”). It sure takes a lot of self-esteem not to get jealous of your husband showing love to your other sister wives, I could never do it, but I admire people who share a common foundation that works for them. As long as it is in agreement between all parties, and it doesn’t hurt anyone, why not? I watched the series on NetFlix and was taken with the deep love and respect they have for each other and their kids. And guess what, you have other people to help with the housework and child raising, and if you are not in the mood, you can ask your sister wife to “take the bullet for you”, so to speak.

But I digress. I am so grateful for the love that my husband, David and I share. We  say “I love you” everday. We do special things for each other, make coffee for each other or fix meals for each other, take over the household chores if one is swamped with work. Because we are both artists besides the work we do for the company we work at, Divineware, David is the webmaster at the Humane Society of the North Bay, that is an ongoing project. He gets to do his cartoon art on the website. He is in the midst of promoting their annual fundraiser, Barkitecture, that is another full time job.

message of peace, respect, love and dignity between animals and humans (as well as other beings on the planet). I am writing more songs. I started working with a guide,a well-known singer/songwriter who passed on, that is helping me fine tunng my piano playing skills.

I just agreed to serve on the Board of Trustees for the church I belong to the Vallejo Center for Spiritual Living. I am also the Chair of the Public Relations committee (I am still in the process of bringing in the committee). So between all our activites. We are constantly taking care of a project. And then besides our work we also have 5 active four-legged kids. So constant cleaning to the cages, litter boxes (our rabbits have their own litter boxes). We don’t free feed our cats or rabbits, and our bunnies get fresh organic veggies from the garden or the store.

But that is some of the things that keeps our 11 year marriage growing strong. I was talking to a lady from our church recently, Linda Moore-Watts and asked her what makes her 24 year marriage work? One of the first things Linda said was “patience” the second thing she said is “listening”. She also mentioned that it is important to have your own interestes besides things you do together.

When I have posed this question to people, who I can tell still have that spark for each other, I hear similar responses. One of my favorite phrases is “don’t take anything personally“. The times that David and I argue, we may say some pretty intense things, out of anger, but I know that in spite of these verbal barbs thrown at me, he loves me. He has since were sophomores in high school and this fact, reminds me when I want to storm out of the house and say “That’s it!”

I want to leave you with a valentine email we got from our boss:

“Its a special day to us because it was  vday 11 years ago that I proposed the idea of starting the company to Virginia  so that I could spend each and every day with her.” 

What a wonderful declaration of love. And one of the big tests they have passed of how well they not only love each other, but like being with each other is that they leave their home in the Sabastopol area and travel in their RV and stay in  San Diego with their two cats. Now that is togetherness!
